Looking back at stuff!

The following is what I just posted on Xanga! Thats where I normally blog!

Look whos back...back again!...Look whos back....Look whos back....Look whos back...Look whos back........
haha alrite enough of that...rofl

So well i wasnt planning on really writing anything until like the 5th day of this week but am back to write on the 1st day itself!...haha
Cant stay too much away from xanga u c... haha

Well, I was just going to a frnds posting (http://www.xanga.com/pinkolecious/396190429/singapore-tourism-board.html?nextdate=last)
and this just reminded me of my experience with all this...haha :)

So life changes sooo much soo soon! I still remember the days when I would just hug my mom n just sit next to her for hours, lying down in her lap and falling asleep... its such a gr8 feeling, its rightfully said that this is feeling is like as if you are in heaven. I so miss those days. Those sundays when you sit with mom dad and play cards or just rest and sit and talk. I still remember those days when then would sit and play the board game "Life" with me, even "Mad" etc. etc.
I will elaborate on this on thurday only even put some nice pics with parents :)

Today I will just stick to the topic of "work" and "interviews"!
Well I still remember the very 1st major Interview that I can clearly remember... it was my VISA Interview to come to USA for my Undergrad! It was a reall tough one. Normally interviews last for 10-60secs but mine went on for about 3mins!!! The interviewer literally sucked away all the life from me before agreeing to giving me my visa. When I went out and gave my parents a call saying that YESS DID IT! I sounded like someone whos all heartbroken and dead after being refused to get it. I had to assure them that I did get it and it was just that I was sooo tired of those 3mins of fighting for it that I sounded like what I did! I had typed up the whole interview to let others see what it is like and had all spiced it up with jokes and all. I shall post it up here sometime for you all to read and laugh at :)

So after I came here to usa I had gotten 2 interview offers with very reputed actuarial firms in my 2nd semester on campus for an internship. Now I didnt know how these happen, I mean how difficult they are, what questions they ask and what is it that I am supposed to be talking. I am more than sure that I was very miserable at them but they were some realtime major learning experiences! They kept asking me questions which were all related to leadership experiences and which was something I didnt have at all as back in india all that mattered was getting good grades! I had an actuarial exam passed before even joining university which was my major plus point and to get into the univ. what helped were all those awards I got at the end of each year in school for getting the highest grade in math.

From these interviews I learned that I needed to be involved on campus, do different things. After all this the next semester I went on to go get a job in the library which is something I have always loved. I practically live in the library. People dont even have to think where what I might be doing they just pretty much know it that they would just find me there. Then the semester after that I went on to go and get a job as a tutor in math. I simply love that job too. The feeling of helping someone out, teaching them something that they hadnt understood well before. Getting their homework done faster. Amaze them by teaching them some tricks that my mom had taught me in the past.

So inshort life changed soo much that the kid who once used to just sit at home, go study and stuff now EARNS!!! Have a JOB!! Being able to pay for all my monthly expenses and try my best not to ask for anymore money from my parents.

Having said all this let me end this for now by pasting here a comment I wrote on my frnd's blog regarding this experience I had this past week.
"hey
interview r always a gr8 experience
just this past wednesday nite... i had gone for this informational by this firm... the hartford life on campus
after the presentation n all i went to go n talk to the representative n came to know they actually had interviews the next day for which students had signed up few weeks back n all.... n i didnt even know abt it happenin
on the spot he gave me a slot for an interview the next day.... i was like sure gr8
i was soo shit scared coz for the past 2 days i had been sleepin for only 3-4 hrs... n same was to happen that nite... but the interview went well... last thing he asked was if i needed to be sponsored to work in usa n i was like yes n he tells me their corporate policy is not to sponsor.... i was like gr888 awesome... thanks a ton
so well in all it was a gr8 experience but all that thrill n sensation was for nothin as in the end they r never gonna give me a full time job anyways
oh well thats life
but it was kinda excitin n all for the nite b4 n that day as this was as such short notice!!!
neways good luck with all interviews n all"

Hmm been 2 days now!

Well saturday was tooo boring..didnt do anything..was whole day at home.... at late afternoon i started with my marathon of hindi movies!

Saw Kya kool hai hum, lil bit of Hulchul(bad audio also parts were cut so didnt wanna see the whole thing), Page 3 & at last Joggers Park. Page 3 was such a good movie! Joggers Park was also unique but again sadly the ending wasnt there:(

Then played cards with my room mates here in Chicago...it was fun! & so ended up sleeping at 5:45-6am...rofl

Woke up at like 2pm..then went for a movie...War of the Worlds...Such a useless movie! Very OVERRATED man! Heard so much good about it but was no good. Then went to Taste of Chicago and at last saw the FireCrackers at the lake. It was real nice but I feel its also a bit overrated:P

Now plan on seeing a few movies before sleeping as tom no work. Am actually liking this 4th of July! I get to stay up late n sleep till late. haha

Just starting Black! Heard gr8 things abt it, hope atleast it will keep up to its reputation.

Done with the week! Now nice 3 days of weekend!

Today there was lots of activity and fun!

Today it was birthday of one of my bosses and so in the afternoon had been for lunch with few coworkers from my office and some from other offices. It was good stuff. Getting to meet even more people from the industry also from different companies!
Then in the evening went to Devon with 2 frnds for dinner. Dinner was yummmy!! punjabi food..yeah! Had thought would watch War of the Worlds today but hard luck couldnt!Hopefully tom will be able to go n watch it!

Today the water level in Lake Michigan was sooo high. The water was so turbulent! There waves n all. Seemed as if it was some kind of ocean or smtg. Also was soo windy n cold today:D

Dont know many people here in chicago so any of you wanna hang out sometime just contact me!

So lets see what I did in the last few days. Well my company had sent me to their NYC office on June 8, 2005 after office in the evening. Stayed in Intercontinental Barclay. All paid by company. This is just so awesomeee! Was there for the Intern Conference.

More to come tom!

BACK IN ACTION!

WOW..Its been over a month since I have posted:P

I guess this is a good time to come back and start posting again..hehe

So lets see.... sooo many things have happened!

Internship is going great...Its soo much fun to be in the work environment. I kinda like it here more than back at school. Get to do all cool calculations. Meet people from the Industry with lots of experience, talk to them know about the future. Have free COCA-COLA! hahaha

My office even has a Pool Table.. I have no idea what it is there for especially when I have NEVER EVER seen anyone play. Again one has no Homework, not really have to be studying for something. No exams though every work is pretty much an exam as all has to be done right but still is soo much more fun.

One thing is a pain everyday which is to WAKE UP EARLY in the morning and so can't STAY UP LATE!!! Oh well one can't get everything:)More to come soon!

Done with finals finally

I have decided that I will post both on Xanga and here the same stuff everytime!

Finally I am back...after ages, I know. Well just got done with finals on Friday..it was a nightmare. I had a final on Thursday Night at 7:30pm then Friday morning at 8am & 1:30pm. So in shirt 3 out of my 6 finals were in 20:30hrs time. The funny part was the last final. I must have slept like 5times. Once even my prof saw me sittin idle probably with my eyes closed and so he came to me and woke me up and asked me is everything alright. Man I felt like laughing away.

Then fri nite I went to Chicago, the lakeshore drive area and all is soooo beautiful man. I even passed by the apt where I am gonna stay over in the summer when I will be interning at Mellon. The area was sooo beautiful. I had been to the Northwestern Campus. Must say it was amazing.

Thought of posting one of my favourite poems. Here it is:

I do not love you as if you were a salt rose, or topaz
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
So I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.
