Well, I was just going to a frnds posting (http://www.xanga.com/pinkolecious/396190429/singapore-tourism-board.html?nextdate=last)
and this just reminded me of my experience with all this...haha :)
So life changes sooo much soo soon! I still remember the days when I would just hug my mom n just sit next to her for hours, lying down in her lap and falling asleep... its such a gr8 feeling, its rightfully said that this is feeling is like as if you are in heaven. I so miss those days. Those sundays when you sit with mom dad and play cards or just rest and sit and talk. I still remember those days when then would sit and play the board game "Life" with me, even "Mad" etc. etc.
I will elaborate on this on thurday only even put some nice pics with parents :)
Today I will just stick to the topic of "work" and "interviews"!
Well I still remember the very 1st major Interview that I can clearly remember... it was my VISA Interview to come to USA for my Undergrad! It was a reall tough one. Normally interviews last for 10-60secs but mine went on for about 3mins!!! The interviewer literally sucked away all the life from me before agreeing to giving me my visa. When I went out and gave my parents a call saying that YESS DID IT! I sounded like someone whos all heartbroken and dead after being refused to get it. I had to assure them that I did get it and it was just that I was sooo tired of those 3mins of fighting for it that I sounded like what I did! I had typed up the whole interview to let others see what it is like and had all spiced it up with jokes and all. I shall post it up here sometime for you all to read and laugh at :)
So after I came here to usa I had gotten 2 interview offers with very reputed actuarial firms in my 2nd semester on campus for an internship. Now I didnt know how these happen, I mean how difficult they are, what questions they ask and what is it that I am supposed to be talking. I am more than sure that I was very miserable at them but they were some realtime major learning experiences! They kept asking me questions which were all related to leadership experiences and which was something I didnt have at all as back in india all that mattered was getting good grades! I had an actuarial exam passed before even joining university which was my major plus point and to get into the univ. what helped were all those awards I got at the end of each year in school for getting the highest grade in math.
From these interviews I learned that I needed to be involved on campus, do different things. After all this the next semester I went on to go get a job in the library which is something I have always loved. I practically live in the library. People dont even have to think where what I might be doing they just pretty much know it that they would just find me there. Then the semester after that I went on to go and get a job as a tutor in math. I simply love that job too. The feeling of helping someone out, teaching them something that they hadnt understood well before. Getting their homework done faster. Amaze them by teaching them some tricks that my mom had taught me in the past.
So inshort life changed soo much that the kid who once used to just sit at home, go study and stuff now EARNS!!! Have a JOB!! Being able to pay for all my monthly expenses and try my best not to ask for anymore money from my parents.
Having said all this let me end this for now by pasting here a comment I wrote on my frnd's blog regarding this experience I had this past week.
